When brainstorming ideas for my EE I found myself fixating on ideas related to visual arts, and specifically architecture.  My initial research question was ‘How is the architecture of a city is a reflection of the society and its culture’.  During the first meeting with my supervisor, we discussed my question and ways we could possibly narrow it down to make it more relevant to me and my environment.  Following our discussion, I decided to change my research question to ‘To what extent does Singapore’s architecture reflect the values and culture of the nation.’.  During our meeting, we also discussed the ways in which I could gather primary data, for instance, visiting the Singapore National Gallery or the National Museum and possibly interviewing the staff there.  One of my concerns includes making sure I focus my writing on the design and structural elements of the architecture to ensure that I don’t make it seem irrelevant to visual arts.
