First week of the year

On Monday we did team building activities as a mentor class and as a whole grade. I thought they were quite fun and good to help break the ice with the new people in the grade and bring everyone back together in our mentor class. The activities included tug of war, Limbo, class v class volleyball and some small team games.

Today we also talked about service and had a service workshop. Last year I chose the service ‘Urban Gardening’ in season 3 and 4. I am very glad that I signed up for this service because I have taken away so much from it. Not only has it taught me to have a green thumb and to do all I can to help take care of our planet, but it has also taught me the importance of interacting with the environment we live in. We take from our world every day, we should learn how to give back too. We rely on the resources we take from the earth so we should protect it as much as possible. I believe that everybody should be able to feel a connection with nature and feel closer to the heart of our planet. Overall I have enjoyed my activities and service throughout the year at UWC. I have learnt a lot through both of my activities, I have built on my leadership skills along with building on my knowledge and awareness of the environment we live in. Taking part in extracurricular activities has really built on my collaborative skills.
