Steve Dawson Writer’s Fortnight 1

Steve Dawson is a reporter at Fox Sports. He has experienced a lot of interviewing and he had even gone around the world to interview many people. He came to talk about how to become a good interviewer.

  1. Ask open-ended questions because it provides the challenge for the interviewer.
  2. Set the answers free and don’t limit
  3. Don’t interrupt
  4. Be a single shooter Ask one by one questions
  5. Listen to the answer
  6. Don’t be a fanboy or a girl

The most inspiring quote from him was “Always find your unique way when you are writing”. I felt that I was always writing in the same way but it is hard to find a new angle. I also thought that using “How did you feel…” questions were actually useful.

  1. I feel like towards the end you really started to talk about some interesting things such as finding a unique style of writing and how “How do you feel..” questions could be really useful. However you never go into detail about any one these ideas. You say that certain questions can be really useful but you never explain how they are useful. What do they do that makes them so useful. I feel like you need to explore this a lot more.
