Learning outcome 2: Demonstrate the challenges that have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.
During Pre-season Netball, the UWCSEA east dragons Netball department decided to bring out one under 19 and under 16 team for the International Fobisia Netball Tournament which was held in Dulwich College Singapore. During our very first training session for pre-season, we had to play practice games for the coaches to select two teams to compete in the tournament in December.
I was extremely nervous as this first training session was my first Netball practice after over a year. I also felt like I was very physically unfit and did and had low stamina. This was quite upsetting for me as I knew it would be a challenge to show my best performance or anywhere near it.
However, I gave it my best shot at the time and my years of experience helped me demonstrate the correct Netball techniques such as abiding by the strict rules of footwork. This helped my performance stand out although it was not my best. I turned out to get selected for the Fobisia tournament! This was both extremely exciting and scary as I now was up against some of the best players and had to play up to the potential of the A team from the previous year who were my teammates now.
