My CAS Reflection: Service

As for my Local service, MINDS: Dancing and Fitness, I was to dance with differtly- abled people who had Intellectual Deficiency and Down Syndrome. Here’s what I learnt out of it:

LO1: I had the strenght of genorosity to make the ID people feel like a part of our community. There have been two incidents where they just wouldn’t want to leave me and would keep holding my hand until they reached thier bus. That was a sad yet happy moment . One challenge I had was commitment. There have been times where I could’nt attend due to some unfortunate reason or the other and there have been times where I wasn’t able to dance as it was after school and I was relatively tired.

LO6: The most important part of this experience was just witnessing how these people adapted to everyday life and knowing how lucky you are to be born without any differences that make life a little less easier than usual.

My PSE reflection

Being new here, it has been pretty hard for me to fit in with the new curriculum, new students and completely new environment. I came here with absolutely no expectations and was planning to keep everything a surprise. Knowing a few people before coming here helped a bit in terms of making friends and all. I still have to work on EQ as I a still need to be more comfortable around people.
