EE Interim Reflection (R2)

Reflection

At first, I tried conducting the experiment at the school swimming pool. It was quickly realized that the environment was difficult to control and so the data collected had a significant random error. After discussing with my supervisor, we decided to recreate the experiment on a smaller scale within the lab. Due to reducing the volume of the ball and the total depth measured, any systematic errors were magnified. To reduce this, the force meter was replaced with a more precise digital scale. The next issue arose from connecting the new ball to the rest of the system. A small gap was drilled on the circumference to attach it more securely, which then had trapped air inside that compressed as it experienced greater pressure while descending. I had to then account for the change in volume of the air with depth. In all, the system design went through many redesigns as assumptions once thought negligible had to be accounted for.
