Pre Project Week

For Project Week a lot of planning was required. We had regular meetings with our amazing project week supervisor Kristie Parker. Kolkata GC is very special because of the close relationship we have with our GC. We are always talking to them and we visit over summer in our own time anyway. Due to constant communication, we already had an idea of what we were going to do during Project Week.

We are planning to use our invaluable member, Jean Wang, and her role as a chair of Tech Tinkers to use their fixed computers and phones to donate to Voice of World NGO. There were some problems where the wonderful service team warned us on import regulations, fir example we may get charged and held up in the Kolkata airport on the grounds of technology dumping since the technology is foreign made and especially reused despite our venerable motives. As this seemed a legitimate concern, we followed their advice and reduced the number of technology donations significantly.

Here are some of the documents we used as evidence:

This is a link to our folder that we created, storing all files, media, finances in this folder in a collaborative manner.

This is our skill-based action plan. I actually worked a lot on this document, so I am posting images of it here. Our document was acknowledged and the service team said it was really good. We did not even need to redraft it.

[I am not including the ‘private but not really private’ emails due to its private nature]

Every member in this group is super excited to embark on this once in a life-time experience and we are all very excited to learn more about the NGO, Kolkata (well, not for me and Shawronna), each other and most importantly, ourselves. We are planning all the time and meeting basically three times a week to make sure we are uber prepared to have a week similar to a well-oiled machine.

I hope we have an amazing trip!
