Options Evening Reflection

Personally, I found last night’s IB options evening very helpful.

I was able to speak to most of the subject teachers that I wanted to and learned more about the subjects that I wanted to take next year. Luckily, I’ve never really had the issue of not knowing what I wanted to do for IB so last night was more of just learning about the subjects I wanted rather than looking at a variety of subjects.

I spoke to the psychology department about the difference between HL and SL and even got my subject form signed. I also went to the Chinese department to learn about the topics taught in Language B SL – as I plan to take that in IB. The most helpful talk was speaking to one of the UACs about my concerns with my IB choices affecting my chances of getting into university for psychology. I was concerned that if I chose Math Applications and Interpretation SL, it would seem bad for universities in the UK since many teachers have said that it is equivalent to Math Studies. I learned that my math subjects should not really matter which pulled a giant weight off my shoulders. Now I can do the math subject I want to do.
