I found the talk by Danny Raven Tan really evocative because of how much he has been through yet he still maintains a positive and amiable attitude. Despite the fact that he has gone through a lot in his life, he doesn’t let it drag him down. In a way it is a very rational way of going through life, if it isn’t helping him feel better then why should he bother about it? For me the most memorable moment was when he said that “God sends his best soldiers to fight the toughest wars.” That made me think in a way I never had before. People have always told me that whatever doesn’t kill me only makes me stronger but until Danny said that I never realised the full extent of what this seemingly simple statement means. To hear it come from someone who has had such intimate and frequent experiences with pain really opened up some doors to new ways of thinking for me.
