The Ib curriculum is one that is all rounded and is able to maximize a students learning in terms of education and in terms of overall learning including mental, emotional and physical activities to keep a student occupied not only at school but throughout their daily life as well. Through this course, I hope to be able to have a deeper understanding of concepts (previously only looked at on the surface) as well as a broader perspective on certain controversial ideas.

Through the SL English course I aim to be able to discover different cultures, ideologies, mentalities and the various aspects in which an idea can be perceived despite it rooting from the same source. This course can also help me express myself in a more efficient and appropriate manner. I hope to be able to organize my tasks and written work better as well as take previously learnt skills to an elevated level. This course can also help me understand myself better from a different angle altogether. To learn the ways in which I perceive specific situations and how I as an individual deal with more complicated ideas that may be presented in the text, I feel, would be beneficial not only for the next two years but also through later years of my life. I hope to be able to understand different people and maybe relate to some characters in the book being read and empathize with them as a figurative “bridge” to a situation I might have personally experienced as well. I chose this course compared to the other ones since it would give me exposure to not only the literature side of English but the language side as well, both of which work hand in hand and are needed for an apt understanding of the subject.
