Singing with the DSA
7 November— We sang for the first time with the DSA. It was an enriching experience, albeit a little different than what I am used to. After getting to know members old and new, we started off the activity by dancing to a Just Dance rendition of Happy by Pharell Williams. We sat down and read the lyrics line by line. We sang the song with a lot of gusto and now the lyrics will forever be imprinted in my mind. It took a lot of patience and understanding as some members had more difficulty than others in reading. It was all part of the process. The enthusiasm in the room was palpable— you could see it in their faces that they genuinely enjoyed singing. Music is such a powerful tool in connecting with others and I look forward to visiting the center next week.
