My First Submission For The Inkling Magazine
time taken: est 1.5 hours
This is the product of my doodling around a month ago, (24/9) on the eve of mid autumn festival. Usually, 嫦娥 (Chang-E) – the mythical lady who flew to the moon – is portrayed as a beautiful woman in flowing robes, delicately poised on a mooncake box – In this technologically advanced age, I thought it would be amusing to re-imagine the traditional character as an astronaut. Her gaze is supposed to look ahead with the hope and aspirations of girls and women. Landing on the moon has always been seen as a great step for mankind, and with this doodle, I hope other Chinese people will be proud of our well-loved 嫦娥, and rethink our traditional gender roles.
I could definitely do better on the art and composition. I had intended to keep it and publish it next year during mid autumn festival, but then @Jean was so eager to have it… I love the idea of this piece though, perhaps I’ll edit or redraw at a later point in time, when I’m more skilled with photoshop.
No learning outcomes here, but incase you haven’t realised, I love this piece so so much. (unhealthy attachments?)
