Dear Aneesh,

Our time here on Earth is limited and everyone will eventually meet their end. Death is what makes time, our most valuable resource. Time is always ticking away, each day, each year, each decade. How we choose to use this precious finite resource, is what makes us who we are.

Everyone has their own “todo-list” which changes from time to time. If you asked the 10 year old me, what was my biggest life goal, I would have replied “To become rich and make lots of money”. Over time as we grow and learn, our values and beliefs who shape who we are changes and this change coincides with our “todo-list” or goals.

Over the years, many philosophers and psychologists have tried to answer the question, “What makes us happy?”. Ultimately, humans crave self purpose and actualization. Self purpose is what keeps us going, self purpose lets us know why we are here. Take Beethoven for example, during his last years on this planet he wrote in his diary that he wants to end his life, but he knows that music he could produce is a service to mankind thus he must continue.

I hope that I answered your question and showed you that goals are always changing. Ultimately all humans share the same goal and that goal is; to make the most out of one’s life.

Kind Regards,

Shawn
