Final Design Day Post     final logo design

Tell us specifically how research helped this process, and which links you think you need to explore/return to in order to continue with your design

The research opened me up to more possibilities on Pages. I learned how to use shadows and layers to make my design more interesting, by having more depth for example. I still need to revisit the links on fonts, because I need to see which fonts that were provided in the specification would look pleasing on the logo.

What was the most complicated thing you taught yourself to do? How did you achieve it?

The most complicated thing that I had to do was making my the lines straight and symmetrical when customising shapes. As well as keeping the shadow and gradient angles consistent so it is not confusing for the viewer.

To what extent does your work reflect your initial thoughts as captured on your post-it note.

I was able to build most of the X and icon that I had wanted. However I was not able to experiment with fonts for the text which was also one of the first steps I had planned to overcome.

Right now, what do you think your design says about both TEDx and the theme Peace by Piece?

My design is still incomplete, I still need to add the text and fix parts of the icon. I think even without the text you would be able to tell this is a logo for TEDx and that it has somewhat a link to peace.

Classmate’s Logo Design

I think this design interprets the theme very well. The colours are very ‘traditional TEDx’ colours, and you can clearly see the iconic X which is important because it’s one of the specifications. They have also included puzzle pieces, which shows a strong connection to the fact that the topic is ‘Peace by Piece’.
