Emotional intelligence holds extreme value in today’s day and age. This meaning that being able to be aware and positively work on your emotional intelligence, and the actions that might lead to bettering it, can be very beneficial to your wellbeing. For me personally, I have always felt more comfortable with my emotional intelligence that its academic counterpart. Priding myself on my social skills and ability to collaborate with the peers around me. However, there are always areas where I feel I need to focus and improve in.

For this upcoming year I would like to work further on these areas of emotional intelligence:

You let go of mistakes

This is an area I would like to work on as holding onto grudges creates a stressful and toxic relationship between friends and can really put a strain on the relationship. This will just be an added weight to the already very heavy life of an IB student. I would like to either work on not letting myself be affected by little things and practicing open and healthy communication in the times that it is needed.

You neutralize toxic people

This area is important to me because the friends I keep and the people around me play a massive part in my life. I am the type of person to become very emotionally invested in my friends and do everything I can to help them. When someone may be taking advantage of this it could massively impact my wellbeing.

You disconnect

This is an important goal for me because when it comes to times when everything becomes a bit overwhelming, disconnecting can be very beneficial.
