Writers Fortnight #3

Robyne Haynes, Researcher and photographer

North: She took pictures of the environment she and the other women were in, but a question that came up was if saying pictures are 1000 words then a video should be 1,000,000 words. She said that it was more in her boundaries if she took pictures instead of video because she was much better at it. So try to improve on what you are good at.

Sand: She bought cameras and gave them to each woman/wife in the environment and asked them if they can take photos of there lives and what they go through. I think this teaches people how to really think more like a reporter than a writer. To get an idea of what is going, you have to understand both sides perspectives. This can make you go in-depth and you have more information to work with.

I liked the images you chose – they were simple yet to the point and summarized the topic well. I think they presented the idea she was trying to convey pretty well.

I also found it really interesting that you remembered her answer to one of the questions – the detail added an element of depth to the post you’ve written. You also showed your thinking and that helped to convey the tone of critical thinking.

Yes, I wanted to convey the images so they looked simple but (if you could see it) have a deep meaning. The answer to the question was easy to remember because I thought about what she could do which was taking pictures and that made think back to the question and the answer.
