Writers Fortnight #4

Assumptions: I thought that at first no swearing haha. But I also thought that it would be more about her writing and tips that she could give us to help us. She showed that through her bad times she used poetry to get past those times. She put her feeling and emotion into her poems which made very meaningful.

About the speaker. She talked about how her family was homeless and how she had a violent father. Because of this, she got into some bad stuff. (weed) Because of this, she went to jail. When she got out, I believe she went to Singapore but she felt like she never fit in there. She had a lot of emotions tangled together and because of poetry, she was able to pull that mass of emotions apart and put it on a page. There was also a question that came up which was “if you had to give your younger self-advice what would it be.” She said I would tell her it is going to be okay. She did not say anything else because she said she needs the experience from her past.

Sand: The best poems come from emotion and experience. It was from her experience she was able to covey and really meaningful poem. To think like a writer you have to go in depth, and so when she was writing her poem she talked about her life and went in depth about how she was living and how she felt.
