I can see in my partner’s foundational story the examples of how the story has lived on/retold. She explains key parts of the story that has most definitely lived on such as “be careful what you wish for” which is used in Princess and the Frog and Coraline. There are many ways that have been highlighted to show how the story in general lives on (through media, passed down through the community, books, and TV shows,). The significance of the story is that it explains the origin of the pineapple from the perspective of the Filipinos. Again the trope in the story is something that has been passed on a retold in many other stories. The story has been retold because it explains an origin of pineapple which makes it a foundational story.
