Hougang Care Centre

In service, we work with members of the Hougang care centre by using music and communicating with them through the arts. Music therapy is a common way to work with the enabled, and I have had the privilege of working with these members. As I have only met them once, it was still a very humbling experience. During our planning stages, I took initiative to input my ideas on what activities we could do, and how to plan the service sessions. At first, I was quite nervous, but when I had finally met the members, I felt very comfortable communicating and expressing my thoughts and ideas with everyone. We did various activities and got to know everyone on a general level. I hope to continue these sessions with a positive mindset and make sure that they have an enjoyable time, as well as learn a few things. Not only will they learn, but I will have the ability to learn from them and understand their stories, as it is hard for me  to get to know the local community as I only spend my time with the school community here in Singapore.
