PSE Reflection

1. Self Reflection- What were some of the most interesting discoveries you made about yourself through the Myers Briggs and Holland Code tests? How has your planning for the future changed or stayed the same during this unit?

I have done several times of 16personality tests before and every time the outcome is showing that I am a mediator- INFP, which means introvert, intuitive, feeling, and prospecting. I was confused and unacceptable when I did the test for the first time because I thought the person they described is not me at all. I thought it was because I used English and there are some Language influentials in it. But I have done it several times in different periods after that and it was always the same. I began to accept the result and starting to observe myself and realized that it actually kind of fits me. The Myers’ Briggs showed the same outcome and it was just another opportunity that made me self aware about who I am. My planning for the future also stayed the same during the unit. I am more aware of myself now and that allowed me to be more firm with my future currently.

2. Self Advocacy- Professional relationships. Name two or three important skills you learned about maintaining positive professional relationships and how will you use them in the future.

One of the important things I learned is definitely that it is important to reply to people’s emails or messages as soon as possible. I am quite procrastinating and sometimes I like to escape from messages that I don’t know how to reply to. After this unit, I realized it is really impolite and would really influence the relationship bank account between the two of us. I learned it would be good if I saw an email when I am busy I can just reply and saying I will pop up soon back.

3. Informed decisions- Thinking about your future 5, 10, or 15 years from now, what are some themes/aspects of life that you want to keep central to your planning? What are some key values that will drive your decision making?

The key values that are important are authentically and empathy. I hope these are the two qualities that I can keep forever and I hope I still own them when I reckon at any time. The key value when I make decisions is to follow my heart and only do things that I want. I want to keep the ability to say no to others as well.

花- Flower (ebook)

During the Digital Perspective class recently, we started a project to design a book, the book can be either written by myself or using an existing book. The piece I chose is written by a famous Chinese writer called Wangzengqi, who is famous by writing short stories and proses.

Hua(Flowers), just as the name tells, Wang have telling his own stories with 4 different species of flowers- Lotus flower, Forger- me- not, French hydrangea and bank’s rose. This piece excerpted from his famous prose collection called Renjianyouzhiwei, which indicates “the most flavor in the world”.

This books have includes the prose masterpieces of Wang Zengqi’s appreciation of plants, food and insects, and nostalgia for relatives and friends in his hometown. Flower is recorded in it by this concept.

Reflection of the mandala essay in GPers class

Link of Mandala essay

During learning the identity unit in our Gpers classes, I’ve had a deeper understandings of what identity really means. I began to discover who I am by drawing a mandala that included 5 symbols which symbolized five characteristics that described myself well. The essay that explained my mandala is the first assignment in this class. I am satisfied with it as a good start, however there are a lot of issues that I could improve on.

I have learnt that every part of the essay counted when teacher is assigned works. I was run on a time when drawing the mandala which is shown in the drawing directly by rough lines and unevenly coloring. This was count on my communication and it was also a lapse of my self-management. For the symbols that I chose, there are two of them that is not very appropriate. It is also about my self management and communication since I didn’t ask for help when I knew that it has been hard for me to find one that connected well. I just waited until the last moment and forced to find a symbol. I had plenty of time to make it better but my hesitation caused troubles. In some parts of the essay, I didn’t get in depth and specific enough. However, I was able to write more on the essay since the words restrict are 1500 and I only wrote 1140 words. I have learned a lesson that it is important to write as much as the restrict words.

here are the take- away information I learned from this essay

  • Always write until reach the word count limit.
  • be careful to every parts of the assessment even the teach didn’t say it is graded it may count in the ATL.
  • Talk to the teacher or friends at the first time if there is any problems.
  • Start to do works earlier so there are plenty of time to revise and be able to ask for suggestions from others.
  • Read the essay with friends that use English as their first languages.

Nov 15th 2019 Goal setting for HumanityColla

Nov 15th 2019 Goal setting for Humanity

During the humanity classes, we have done three tasks and assessment so far which is a group presentation, a personal presentation and an essay during ours development unit.

In the form below, I am going to set up goals for each criteria in ATL based on my behaviours in these three assessments in order to improve for next time.

I have chosen the goals for each criterion referenced to the feedback by the teacher and my personal understandings of performance.

Collaboration (countries group presentation) Communication (Group or SDG presentation) Attachments

(SDG essay)

Goal To be better organized and prepared for group presentation. Be more confident on the stage  To use accurate and suitable language and references when performed the essay.
Action
  • Organize time to meet with group members outside of classroom
  • Update and talk to group members to see if they have ideas for me to improve
  • Use social media s.g.whatsapp to communicate and plan about the time organization such as the time for the last edit.
  • Using body language like hand gestures
  • Use enthusiasm and positive voice and avoiding monotone.
  • Rehearse a few more times to become more familiar with the contents prepared so I will be able to have more eye contact with audiences since my own understandings towards topic allowed me to use own words to explain when I look at the audiences.
  • Find more sources and references when I determined the topic and structures before starting to write an essay.
  • Read aloud if the environment allowed or silent read the whole passage after finish writing the whole essay to check grammar mistakes and inaccurate vocabs.
Indicators
  • The group will present a fluent, well organized presentation to educate and engage with audiences.
  • In teacher’s feedback, the
  • I would present myself as a more confident and well prepared image in the following presentations.
  • There will be less grammar mistakes and will have more reliable sources in my essay next time.

Self evaluation of the SDG’s presentation in Humanity

The SDG presentation task is a assigned work in our humanity class, Mr.Hannah have assigned each of us with one sustainable sustainable goal which was created by the UN in 2015, aim to reach these goals to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all By the year 2030.

In the class, I have assigned Goal 8–Decent work and and economic growth. We are going to do a 2 minutes presentation in the following class to convince other people ours goal deserves the most fonds by the govern. I prepared it at home, first trying to find the logic and arrange the structures of the essay. I decided to write the body paragraph in two sections- importance and the reason for govern to invest most. I researched the meaning of some terms in order to find a easier explanation at first. After that, I researched why is my goal important based on some statistics and evidences. At last, for the second paragraph and the conclusion, I mentioned that without my goal, other goals are not able to be achieved as well.

I think I have succeeded that I was less nerves than last group presentation which shows that I have overcome my fears in some extent. My voice was not as shaked as last time and I found out that I started to adapt speaking on stage slowly. I also mentioned the interrelations with two factors and the relationships between my goals and all other global goals as well.

For the things to improve, I found out that my presentation doesn’t show enough suitable evidences in the right place to support my statement hence sometimes my ideas sounds too weak that it became untrusted for other people. When there are no reliable sources and no reference, it is hard to say if statements are made up by myself or not for audiences. I also lacked some eye contacts with audiences since I was not confident to speak in my own words but has to rely on my notes. I need to practice and rehearsed more for next time since sometimes my pronunciation doesn’t sound clear and accurate when I am nervous. I would like to see myself memorize the main ideas of the script and would be able to talk based on my understandings toward the theme of the presentation, gain more confidence, pronounce words clearer and more accurate and act more positive when I speak so I don’t sound like a monotone that made audiences feeling bored.

Hello world!

Hello, my name is Selina. This is my first post of  learning journey which I decided to introduce myself. I am 15 and I am a fib student in present. It is my first year in UWCSEA east but third year in Singapore. I studied in Stamford American for the past two years. I am coming from China and I always went back to China during the break. Even though I am very familiar with the life in Singapore, it is still new and a little bit tough for me to adapt in a new environment since I have a very introverted personality. However, there are two thing that I am really satisfied with UWC. One is the canteen because I had being expected it for a very long time and it didn’t let me down at all. The second is the people here, no matter teachers or students or staffs. Everyone are so easy going that made me feel like becoming a member in this place is something easy to achieve. I already signed up for some activities and services, I hope I can make some new friends from different cultures and be involved into UWC community sooner.
