Foundational Stories

Through my partner’s presentation, I can identify several examples of how a particular foundational story has been retold, adapted, revisioned and alluded to.

In Udit’s presentation, he talks about an Indian story called Mahabharata. He gives examples of how this story has been turned into movies, TV shows, graphic novels and books.

Through my partner’s presentation, I can trace the changing significance of a particular story over time and across cultures.

Mahabharata is a very significant story in the Hindu culture. This story talks about 2 families who are fighting for the throne. When kids read/watch this story, they learn about the Hindu culture and their past.

Through my partner’s presentation, I can explain how and suggest why a foundational story has been adapted in popular culture/revisioned within a particular cultural context/alluded to in a modern text.

Many of the books and novels are written for children to read and to learn about the Indian culture. One of the books is written from the perspective of a female protagonist and another has been made into a series of 10 books written with a western approach.
