Heroism to me was the bridge connecting heroism to superheroes. I mean, how could I not have thought that? I was a young kid who watched a lot of movies like Superman and Spiderman. They had special powers, which fascinated me, as they utilized those skills for the greater good. I always re-enacted those superheroes in hopes to simulate what I saw in the movies, which would have been rather cute for me to have seen now. However, now close to seventeen years old, my view on many things have matured. I now see clearly, both what our world does best and what its flaws are. The point is, my opinion has changed a lot in a variety of notions, and what better opinion is there to talk about compared to heroism?
Heroes do not have to ‘super strength’ or ‘X-Ray vision,’ nor do they wear capes and “cool looking” masks. It’s the small thing they do consistently to do what is right. Recycling or helping the elderly is a good example of what I think heroes do. Serving your country or saving somebody’s life is another great example of what I think are heroic acts. In my opinion, heroes aren’t born heroes. It’s the mindset of a hero that makes them orchestrate actions for the greater good of this world. Whether these measures are small or large, as long as they are consistent, then the steps taken are being done by a hero of the planet Earth.
