At our last meeting (13th Nov 2018) some representatives from Kolkata GC came to talk to us about what they do and how it relates to GEP’s area of focus. Kolkata GC is partnered with an NGO in India called Voice of World. Voice of World aims to empower individuals – namely women and children with disabilities – participate in society to their full potential. This may be through vocational job opportunities, receiving an education and so much more. We found out that in their vocational center, they have a specialized area where they manufacture sanitary products which is exactly the type of partnership we were looking for. However, this aspect of the vocational center is often overlooked and, thus, we have access to very little information regarding it. Nonetheless, through some research, we will hopefully find a viable relationship between Kolkata GC and GEP. We also discussed possible collaboration opportunities between GEP and Kolkata GC in the future. Kolkata GC has an annual performance known as Kahaani which is their main fundraising event. This is convenient for us as through collaborating with them on this, we are able to raise awareness and also assist them in the execution of the event.
