IB Subject Decisions

Last week, I submitted my IB subject choices as I am going into Grade 11 next year. Although I was initially very indecisive about my choices, I am feeling far more confident, and hope to further this during my meeting with my UAC. As for my HL subjects, I have chosen Economics, Biology, and AA Mathematics. As for my SL subjects, I have gone for Spanish, English (Lang-Lit) and Psychology. Through this decision process, I have found that rather than making decisions based off my desirable future career (which I haven’t figured out yet), I picked my subjects out the ones I find most enjoyable/I’m best at. In turn, this has guided me to new possibilities that I hadn’t previously considered. For example, my combination with Econs, Math, and Psych has led many people to comment on how Behavioural Economics could be a great option for me. Although I’m still cautious about whether I will regret taking or not taking certain subjects (eg. the difficulty of taking HL Math AA, or not taking Music after having done it in IGCSE), I plan on talking to older students, my parents, and teachers for an extended time, along with my UAC. As of now, however, I am optimistic about what these new courses hold after completing my current IGCSE exams.
