Today was my second training after coming back from summer break, and I was feeling more confident coming into the gym as I have mentally set myself certain goals to get back into shape. In gymnastics it is very easy to gauge your individual strengths and weakness, therefore it is also easy to become demotivated when progress halts on a particular apparatus or skill. As it is still preseason, I have internally established progression milestones, such as regaining my Tsukahara on vault, or getting my acro connection on beam. Today I felt relieved to have got my giants back on the high bar although I was initially very nervous about it. For this reason, I think it is of equal importance that one of my goals is to both celebrate small achievements but also work on my general perseverant approach when faced with adversity.
