Equality

EQUALITY

Is it really fair to ask people who have talents in different areas to do the same exam?

In this example, we can see that the interviewer’s demand is not fair. Maybe it’s because of demands of the career, they need people who can climb trees, but if you ignore that, it’s a very unfair interview.

As we can see, candidates include wolf, seal, fish, elephant, penguin, monkey and bird. Each of them has their own strengths, such as wolf can run very fast, elephant is strong, bird can fly. It’s a reminder that because of unequal treatment, while we accepting certain people who are good at somethings, we also ignore people who are talented in other areas.

In the society, some companies will reject some talented people because of their gender, race and even appearance. As a result, talented people cannot be valued and adopted, while companies cannot improve, and society cannot make progress.

Now, let’s read this picture in another way. First, we notice the question of tree climbing. It’s easy to know that this exam question is not suitable for every candidates except monkey. We have to think that the exam question is specially written for monkey. This can also be understood as the internal choice of the selected person. The monkey(candidate) is close relative of the human being(interviewer), and depend on this relationship it becomes the selected one(worker). This remind us, some who did not work particularly hard may rely on ‘holes’ in inequality to seize opportunities for talented people.

That is my idea.
