Talking w/only emojis Podcast Post

“Willing to send a lot more cheesy affectionate messages.” When asked about what’s special about using emojis.

“We will never replaced words with pictures” People run out of symbols

“The stickers and emojis was a different experience” “They were fuller”

“Emojis are more oriented around emotions rather than nouns”

“The emoticons I can fit into my chat messages actually helped me say more”

The episode used a pre-intro bumper to introduce the context of this experiment. The standard introduction gave the name of the radio and its host. The relevance was introduced by talking about imagery communication. The story was very thorough and interesting. My new question was how emoticons make you more expressive. The outro advertises other content on the radio.

This episode demonstrated the possibility and difficulty of trying to communicate only in emojis. It helped me reconsider whether choosing to communicate only in emojis is a viable challenge.

Why emoticons help some be more expressive even though there are more words than emoticons?

Why do most people understand emojis extremely effectively?

I think the most important quote you highlighted was “Emojis are more oriented around emotions rather than nouns” I say this because it is interesting to show how emoji’s can only show how you feel about something but not that ‘something’ itself. I hadn’t thought of that before.
The question that most interests me is “Why emoticons help some be more expressive even though there are more words than emoticons?” I say this because I can understand not being to describe a particular emotion in words but can do that in an emoji and can relate to this question.

I think the most important quote you highlighted was the fourth one. I say this because that is the whole reason that emojis have started to take the place of text.
The question that most interests me is Why do most people understand emojis extremely effectively? I say this because it is hard to imagine it comes naturally to everyone

  3. I think the most important quote you highlighted was ““Emojis are more oriented around emotions rather than nouns.” I say this because I can agree with this statement, I think that emojis being more reliant on a visual representation of a feeling or emotion are much more effective in portraying emotions than words.

The question that most interests me is “Why do most people understand emojis extremely effectively?” I say this because it is interesting to see how much our world has changed, and how the simplicity and effectiveness of language has changed with times as well. We find ourselves able to understand emojis much better than actual text sometimes, and I think that this shows a way in which our language is developing as a generation.

I think the most important quote you highlighted was “The stickers and emojis was a different experience. They were fuller” because I usually feel in the same way as well. I think in many situations, an emoji can express my feelings clearer than the words, and it’s more convenient to use the emojis.
The question that most interests me is “Why do most people understand emojis extremely effectively”, because I can feel that my friends are usually more active and passionate toward our chat when I use more emojis.

I think the most important quote you highlighted was ““Emojis are more oriented around emotions rather than nouns.” I say this because this is something that I don’t really think about, but agree with when thinking about it. Though noun-based emojis may exist, people use emotive emojis much more since that seems to be their original purpose.

The question that most interests me is “Why emoticons help some be more expressive even though there are more words than emoticons?” I say this because this is something that a person 100 years ago would fail to understand, thinking that words are so much more expressive than symbols. However, language changes as time goes on, making this a relevant and challenging question nowadays.

    Nice observations!
I think the most important quote you highlighted was “the emoticons I can fit into my chat messages actually helped me say more.” It felt that this resonated with my perspectives, and also provided a justification which I can use for when I need to justify my use of emojis. These days justifying emojis aren’t very important, although controversy about new emojis such as the non-gay flag emoji, are being highly debated on.
The question that highly engaged my thinking was “why do most people understand emojis extremely effectively?” Because some people take emojis light-heartedly as not very serious, although considering another perspective, these emojis are reflective of ones true feelings and expressions. Though there should be an option to design diy emojis for more effective communication.
