School is a place where we go to learn about many different things and it can get stressful. With careers in mind, I still am not a 100% sure on what I want to do. I have many different interests in subjects but I do not have a clear direction on what job I hope to have. I am interested in areas that include science, such as physics and chemistry. My brother is majoring in chemical engineering, maybe that is where my interest comes from, but I find that science can explain a lot of things in this world. I am not particularly interested in math but I know I am going to need it for the majors I might pick. Personally, I think you should do what you want to do, but you should also be successful in what you do. A person should think about their future before applying for a major as it might not work out in the end. Whatever I end up doing, I want to be successful in it but more importantly, be happy and enjoy the work I am doing. Otherwise, I see no point in doing it. I have learnt that I do not want to fail anyone in life. I want to make them proud while also being happy myself. Life is like a jigsaw puzzle, but you don’t have the picture on the front of the box to know what it’s supposed to look like.
At lunch, sometimes my friends and I talk about what we want to do in the future. Some of my friends know what they want to do and some of them don’t. It might be too early to really decide on an area that we want to focus on and we know that even if we do it might change. I think my interest comes from a few years ago, I had science related books and I would sometimes watch documentaries or conspiracy theory series on TV. I found them interesting and I still find them interesting. I think I will most likely work in the science field. Whatever I do, I want to be happy with it and I want my parents to be happy with it. I want to be more motivated to work harder and I have noticed as the school year goes by I get more motivated to do better and I put in an effort to try to get better at something. I although do want to try more things and try even harder to get higher grades and also to try more things to develop my skills.
I think that I am willing to work towards getting into a good university in a science field because that’s what I am interested in right now and I think I can work towards that by looking into science more and trying harder in the subject in school. I think I should also intern at a place in Singapore to gain experience and to see if I am really interested in what I think I am. If not then I can try to find another thing that interests me and try to gain experience in that area. My parents do not mind what major I do as long as I have a good life and have the basic necessities. I agree with them, I think I would be able to do anything as long as I am doing well in the future. I also want to go to America for my university as my brother is also there so he can help me, and the US has good universities.
Right now I think in grade 10, it is a good year to start exploring your interests and what you want to major in by gaining experience, as in grade 11 we need to start looking into universities. I think that I still have time and I do want to intern in a place to see if I am interested in science. I believe these things take time and you shouldn’t rush it. If you don’t know what to do now, you will know what you want to do when the right time comes.
