GLIDE APP REFLECTION

Ever since I was little, I’ve been passionate about traveling and exploring new destinations- partly because my dad has been super vehement about photography and settling down someplace in Europe. That meant growing up was mostly vacationing in different places to find the “perfect” home. Amid the journey, I discovered there was more to take away from our vacations than checking off lists to fit our home- there was surreal beauty in these places, there was belonging, we interacted with different cultures, we found solace in some of these places and most of all, It was about the experience. I made memories in these places. I remember my first wine tasting in Tuscany or my first horse race in Spain or bungee jumping in Switzerland, and like that these memories slowly turned into a collection I was proud of, I didn’t want to let go. Just as the saying goes, I wanted to live a life bigger than life itself. So I created this app, like a little memoir for myself to reconnect with and for anyone wanting to travel with my recommendations.

Overall, I really enjoyed creating this app because I was really passionate about my topic and it kept me going. I had fallbacks, I didn’t know how to work with some of the components but then youtube became my new best friend and I was able to work my way through.

Evolution of communication reflection

communication is the process of passing information and understanding from one person to another.”

Recently in Digital perspectives, we were a part of a project which involved creation of a social media timeline. What I discovered was so much wilder than my imagination could ever go to.Being a heavy user of social media myself, I was very intrigued learning about how it all worked in the past.  THE EARLY METHODS OF COMMUNICATION INVOLVED SENDING PIGEONS ACROSS AS MESSENGERS AND HERE WE ARE TODAY, SOARING HEIGHTS WITH THE SCIENCE WE’VE CONQUERED- LIVING IN THE AGE OF SNAPCHAT AND INSTAGRAM.

We learnt that Some of the oldest forms of human communication include  making sounds,  painting, dancing, acting, and using symbols.Making communication was a man’s way out to find an alternative to understand the other person’s dialect and connect on a daily basis. The first phone was created by Elisha Gray,From morse codes to trunk calls to instant messages, I feel we have come a long way and are in waiting for another great invention.
