My project is about the neuro efficacy of quercetin and how it could be a potential treatment to alleviate the symptoms of Alzheimer’s. I chose this theme because I work with the Apex Harmony Lodge for a cognitive rehabilitation program, and the patients there have Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Seeing them made me wonder if there was a cure to stimulate cognition other than activities, so I researched a bit and found a study on food piments affecting cognition. The idea interested me, and I wanted to spread awareness about it to teachers and clinics so it can get approved for clinical trials. I aim to present my project as a small infographic book because I generally like being colorful and creative, but also research papers are monotonous to read; I want to skin the information down to relevant points and present a quick to read yet detailed version of the research paper, so it is more digestible by people who aren’t scientists or researchers. I think the next step would be to break down all the information into smaller parts and arrange them according to the infographics. The fact that we’re away from school and on remote learning is like the biggest hurdle because we don’t always have our teachers to pull us into the right direction if we go all over the place. I tend to over annotate stuff, so I guess this would be a challenge for me, and I want to do do it well !!
