Learning Outcome 4 and 5

Today is the first day that I don’t have any rehearsal anymore. One part of me still don’t believe that last week with all of its craziness, nervous waiting, tired and little bit sick periods is over. It was my first and last production week in this school. I still remember when it all started, in Grade 11, with researching and just trying to understand the people’s lives we aimed to embrace on stage. I remember when it started to feel overwhelming, the academic pressure clashed with the 3 hours rehearsals, which are sometimes occupied even our Saturdays. It was crazy, exhausting, but I didn’t think about it for a second to quit. Because it was such an incredible process that I knew that I shouldn’t/couldn’t miss. And at the hard times, we always had the others next to us. The little family that we have become during the rehearsals. We supported each other both in real life and on stage and it was an essential element in our play. Our collaboration needed incredible focus on each other, helping out if someone missed something, fit our movements and pace to the others, and never judge if something is not going according to the plan or someone’s idea is not working. We needed to provide open, safe space as the most amazing thing in theatre, the creative process only can be accomplished when everybody is contributing and feel confident to share their ideas.

I’m extremely grateful to have the opportunity to participate in it, and will never forget my little life in Mumbai.

Project Week Plan

Hey hey,

As Project Week coming closer and closer, we are doing some research for the areas we’re going to visit. It’s really diverse, as we’re not staying in one place, but moving constantly. It’s going to be a very intense experience, because we will be constantly moving from place to place, project to project.

We have both service and activity aspects within the trip, however, the activity dominates.

This is the outline of our week:

27 May – Monday: arrival and transfer to the Bohol Islands. Start to prepare for kayaking and also engage with the local community.

28 May – Tuesday: Paddle to Mangrove Rehabilitation sire for Mangrove Education program. We will collect mangrove wilding, construct mangrove nursery and also replant some mangroves too

29 May – Wednesday: We are paddling to middle Abatan River, where we will engage with the local community and help to construct shelter materials for them.

30 May – Thursday: Paddle to upper Abatan River, where we will help to the local NGO with refurbishment. Then we will return to yesterday’s camp.

31 May – Friday: Coming back to Singapore.

I believe that during this trip, we will have the chance to explore Learning Outcome 3 (demonstrate and initiate a CAS experience), LO 5 (demonstrate the skills and recognise the benefits of working collaboratively, and LO6 (demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance.

LO 5 Collaboration – Mae Sot IFP

After we got selected for the different conferences, we have formed different groups with people from Dover and East. I’m going to Initiative for Peace – Mae Sot conference and during the preparation weeks, we have to plan every detail of our conference. My group is mainly focusing on planning the activities in connection with individual and group identity, stereotypes, the celebration of diversity and cultures. The challenges for us are mainly the ways we have to find to contact and share our ideas with each other, because the two campuses are far enough from each other to not to meet every week. While we need to be effective and also fast, skyping/chatting makes it harder to reach this. We are still developing how we should do it, but next to that, we are trying to adopt to each other and get to know our team better to be able to develop our ideas and being able to always listen to each other.

Looking at the upcoming conference our collaboration is crucial, because we can’t let the coming delegates down and we have to produce a quality work until then.
