What impact have my actions had on this global issue?
My local service is a service which aims to make changes to the intellectually disabled people by having weekly sessions of dancing. Intellectually disabled people have more difficulty living than other people do, because of the structure of society. In Singapore, this issue is not addressed enough, and further support is needed for them. Through our sessions, we aim for the clients to have fun and feel more comfortable interacting with people. It also helps us know about people with intellectual disabilities, meaning the service also raises awareness of this issue. Globally, issues to do with intellectual disabilities can be seen often, and I think there are a lot of cases where society does not do enough for them.
