EE Initial Reflection

For my EE, Currently I am working on a question surrounding the Battle of Stalingrad and the events surrounding it and their importance in shaping WW2. However reaching this question and choosing it from an infinite range of topics has been interesting. I have always had interest in the Battle for numerous reasons, therefore resulting in me choosing it as my topic. Ranging from the sheer numbers involved in this war to the debatable decisions that were made.

I had my first meeting with my supervisor, Mr Sharry, after conducting initial research and the EE planning process. I met with him and showed him my ideas so far and he guided me well, helping me narrow down my question and give me good ideas to discuss. He asked probing questions on my question to help me identify areas which I had little knowledge on at first, so I can work on these sections to learn more to eventually help my essay. After this insightful conversation, we together identified goals and steps to work on before our next meeting. I set targets to conduct more research and attempt to narrow down on the question.

EE Writing Day Reflection

  1. One thing I’ve learned
The EE Writing Day has been a productive day in which I have been able to narrow down my initial question through thorough primary research to something which is not regularly spoken of yet can be debated over. Therefore, through this I have learnt the importance of conducting primary research on a topic to be able to narrow down your views into a more manageable question.
  2. What I’m proud of
Personally I am proud of identifying a section on the Battle of Stalingrad, my main focus for the EE, which is not considered very often. This is the politically decided priorities and strategies and how it led to Nazi defeat. I found this through primary research by reading a book on the battle itself and identified clear faults in the German tactics and how the Russians were able to take advantage of this.
  3. What I’ll be doing next
My next step is to conduct more research on the strategies and decisions, identifying three main strategies which were decisive in the outcome of the war, and finding sources on them. After this I must analyse the sources and their reliability. Furthermore, it is important to also supply this research with in-depth historiography to be able provide facts and statistics to validate my thesis and main argumentative points. Furthermore, I feel I have reached a good point to begin writing my essay after this research, primarily the abstract and introduction as I have reached a final argument I want to focus on.

Media Coordinator

How do you want to be remembered? Take images which are not only pleasing to your eyes but also satisfy the criteria of your teammates as their reflection will be shaped around your picture. Capture importance, don’t take too many snapshots of unimportant, however take one’s of unique ones. Furthermore, Rule of Thirds.

First term in Maths

It has definitely been more challenging than what I had initially expected. The requirements and demands and structure of the course is definitely a fresh experience. Furthermore, the tests are completely different to what GCSE’s were like. The class structure of doing 2 segments of the course with 2 different teachers is also difficult to adjust to. I feel like that has been an issue for me this term, adjusting to these changes and doing my best possible. I feel sometimes, I am more laid back and do not put the effort necessary or work to my best capability. I have enjoyed the nature of working at your own difficulty and the freedom of choice we have sometimes. Furthermore, the interactive nature of lessons and the board work has been helpful. All the extension and consolidation of work given to be done at home can also be a good resource to depend on. Working with a fellow classmate can also be quite helpful.

I think I learn best if I learn a new method during class and then practice those skills. And then later that day at home if I consolidate upon the skills I have freshly acquired, and keep my mind in constant reminder of what I have learnt. I feel a subject that is personally similar to Mathematics is Computer Science because both require skills of ingenuiety and quick thinking on the spot.

Soundbeam with Peacehaven Season 1

I have also worked along Peacehaven previously in Grade 9. Therefore I felt the need to support them again once I had the chance available. However this time it was to work alongside equipment called Soundbeam. This was created for those that are physically impaired or have mental disabilities and impower them through music. Through simple and light touches sound can be produced from another end through 8 parts of the instrument. However, we barely used it due to our own inexperience with it as explained in the video. I feel upon personal improvements I can do a better job as a logistics officer and be a better leader as being one of the only experienced and returning members of a small group of service.

Asian Children’s Education season 1

Learning Outcome: Identifying own strengths and develop areas for personal growth

As a returning member of the GC, I felt some excitement at returning and being able to work with this great cause again. Asian Children’s Education works alongside Jaago foundation in Bangladesh and help provide funds for people who need it, especially impowering children and funding their education. Now back with some fresh Grade 9s and some of the leading members graduating everything seemed to have shifted. At times I felt as a member who has been a part of this GC for some time already I did not do enough to help improve it therefore I feel I need to develop and grow in that area.
