LO2- Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

In this new season, the teacher asked me whether I wanted to try playing saxophone. The saxophone has a similar fingering with the clarinet so it is relatively easier for clarinetists to play the saxophone. Since I have never played the saxophone before, I decided to have a go. Although it has similar fingering with clarinet, it required different techniques. For example, the saxophone has a larger lead than the clarinet and for that reason, I found it difficult to play low scales. The teacher advised me to take more breathe and to be more consistent with breathing. After a few sessions, I could get used to the low scales. Also, the saxophone was heavier than the clarinet. I could not hold it straight. However, there was a neck strap so I could split the weight and hold it straight. I really enjoyed playing saxophone as it had a different sounds from clarinet but similar fingering techniques.
