Limes

Most people, if they choose to grow lime, purchase already grown lime trees, although they are also very easy to grow from seeds. When you plant a lime tree, make sure that it gets plenty of sunlight, and if possible, choose a location that will receive southern sunlight. Be aware of the drainage, because if you plant your tree in soil that doesn’t have drainage, it will kill your lime tree. Always make sure that your tree isn’t exposed to standing water. If you are planting on the ground, make sure the soil around the tree is higher than the ground outside the planting hole to prevent pooling of water around the tree. Water constantly, but be careful not to over water. Also, be sure to fertilise the soil around the trees frequently too. Lime trees cannot tolerate temperatures much under 10 C, so make sure that the temperature is warm enough. Limes help boost your palate with tangy flavours, and here are some mouthwatering ways you can use your limes in your dishes. You could make lime, coconut and macadamia cookies. This cookie is bursting with flavour and is ideal for an afternoon snack. It will have you reaching for one more! Another dish you could make is a Thai fish sauce with lime chicken. A tongue-tingling spicy fish sauce along with a juicy chicken with a strong and tangy flavour of lime served with hot, soft rice. Enjoy your meal with fresh lime that you made with your own hands!
