The past year, I have introduced myself to the world of cryptography by joining the National Cipher Challenge club and by participating in the UK based challenge with a team online. This experience has opened up a whole new world that was not known to me before. From learning what types of ciphers exist to the art of decrypting them. Not only has this given me a better understanding of language in general, but also of our history of communication and how we have progressed in advancing the complexity of encrypting our messages. Additionally, given that we aren’t meant to use online tools to solve these challenges, I have had to become more and more familiar with coding using python in order to increase the efficiency of the decryption process.
