CREST post-curriculum reflection

My CREST project has gone quite well, I was able to write a lengthy and in-depth report, exploring and explaining the science behind the different areas within the future of global warming. I am still adding new information, but this project is mainly for my learning and collection of information, I will submit this to CREST, but I am going for a gold award instead as I have put in a lot of time, more than 70+ hours – which is the guided amount.

  • How my project was successful/not successful -e.g. What went well and what didn’t

I believe that the science, the writing, and the use of imagery went very well, I was able to create a nice flow- but something I could further improve on (due to adding new topics now) would be the structure of the report.

  • What have I learned through this whole process? – science and personal skills

I have learned how to write a structured, depth scientific report, through both writing my own- and reading scientific studies. I have also learned so much more in-depth, complex science, including formula’s, equations, and various concepts. This has been a very informative process.

  • What impact might the results of my project have on other people/the wider world?

Spreading awareness, and knowledge on the topic of global warming- and also, through the awareness campaign for individuals, firms, and governments educated different entities on how they can lessen there own environmental impact on the planet, and reduce their own CO2 footprint.

  • What I would have done to improve my work?, What I’d do to develop the project in the future?

Refine, and add new information- narrow my project more so I can go into greater depth. This is otherwise, a massive topic, a whole field of science if you may.

Political cartoon analysis reflection

  • What have I learned about creating meaning through the interaction of visual and lexical elements?

I have learned a lot about the different techniques used through visual and lexical elements, as we have analyzed in various political cartoons. The lexical elements of a language are the words, punctuation, and grammar rules of the language.

  • How are ideas communicated through the interaction of visual and lexical elements?

Idea’s are communicated through subjects, objects, lexical elements, colour and various drawing techniques in political cartoons, through these- the cartoonist is able to create a cartoon that sparks emotions and contains ideas that spark the reader’s interest.

  • What are the similarities and differences between an opinion article and a political cartoon?

A political cartoon is a representation of one side of a topic, this can come with bias, but so can opinion articles. Opinion articles are however backed up by statistics and facts and contain more research and proves it’s point while a political cartoon shows a message, and possib
