So far in my EE process, I have already faced various challenges. When writing my detailed outline, I struggled to make sense of my goals and research. With an overwhelming amount of referral links and a research question that wasn’t quite specific enough – the first thing I had to do was narrow my research question. I changed it from “… affect child development” to “affect child cognitive development.” Tighter wording filtered out research for me and made it easier for me to piece together bits to structure my EE. Later, my EE supervisor and I discussed my outline and agreed that a psychology theory should be added. My issue was, however, that most theories related refer to socioemotional development, which is not my focus. So we discussed how I can use a socioemotional psychology theory, and apply to cognitive psychology, through making links between them. We also discussed splitting up the EE writing process into chunks, to make it more manageable.
