Commitment to care is at the heart of the UWC mission, and as UWC students, we are taught to follow the teachings of our founders, such as Kurt Hahn. However, these qualities can be seen as mere words we learnt in our Middle School planners, as many in the College still strive to embody it.

The PSP unit on ‘Commitment to Care’ allowed students to delve not only into our community, but changes we can make in the world. With focus weeks on diversity, sustainability and peacebuilding, it suffices to say that it truly gave me invaluable insight into the small but sure contributions that are possible.

I think my biggest takeaway from this unit is the awareness of the effects that my actions had and will continue to have on the people around me. With this in mind, I will endeavour to make every action memorable in a positive way.
