How Lady Macbeth Persuades her husband into Murder

Lady Macbeth persuades her husband into committing the murder on King Duncan by manipulating Macbeth into believing that his manliness is at stake. Lady Macbeth says “When you durst do it, then you were a man; And to be more than what you were, you would Be so much more the man” This makes Macbeth feel as though his wife won’t even view him as a man if he doesn’t go ahead with the plan, even though many others think he is a valiant man. Lady Macbeth also uses her manipulative skills by erasing any doubts Macbeth has. When Macbeth doubts if their plan will work, he says “If we should fail?” but Lady Macbeth makes sure her husband is courageous about the plan by saying ” We fail? But screw your courage to the sticking-place, And we’ll not fail.” Here she is expressing that there is almost no possibility of failing if he is courageous enough to go ahead and “proceed in this business”
