Swimming For Fitness Reflection

This season, I was doing swimming as a part of my CAS experience. I found swimming really helpful to not only stay healthy but also motivated throughout the school week.

The instructions from our coach were really useful. I focused on developing the speed and technique in different swimming strokes. Additionally, swimming helped to improve the skills of understanding the oral instructions as they have to be performed physically.

Yoga with Tampines MINDS | 2

On one of the last few sessions, our service group has visited the Tampines MINDS centre and met our clients, as well as the representatives of the centre. It was quite beneficial for us to meet our clients in real life so that we can start building the connections.

Our last sessions showed the LO 4 “Show commitment to and perseverance in your CAS experiences”. Through constant attendance of our group members, we were able to discuss our long-term plan and improve our knowledge of the yoga programme. One of the important points was the necessity to work on a service video, in order to introduce a service to the next members and reflect on our achievements throughout the year.

In the future sessions, I will focus on building a strong connection with a client, as well as thinking about collecting evidence for a reflectional video.

Yoga with Tampines MINDS | 1

This year I am taking part in a service called “Yoga with Tampines MINDS”. Through this service, we provide services (in our case, it is yoga) to mentally disabled people from the MINDS centre. Our goal is to understand the needs of our clients and do offer the clients support from our side.

Our first sessions were dedicated to research about medical conditions, that some of the clients might have. This helps us to be more aware of our clients’ situation, in order to improve their experience. I associate this action with LO 3 “Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience”. Moreover, during the first sessions, we were introduced with our yoga programme, which is suggested to our clients during the sessions. After reviewing and testing the yoga programme, we considered different adjustments and modifications to it, however, the final corrections can be implemented after doing the programme with the clients.
