While brainstorming areas that I was willing to explore, I questioned the relationship between how attitudes in regards to how collectivist or individualistic a nation is, affects the level of inequality present. I decided to choose a world studies EE as it would help me explore the economics of the issue while delving into the psychology behind such mindsets. I’ve decided to compare two contrasting nations, India and the US and how their citizens’ mindsets have determined the wealth disparity present. A key concern of mine was which countries I’d focus on when writing my EE and brought that up with my supervisor. We both decided that using nations on the extremities of the spectrum would be the smartest and hence, chose India and the US. Another concern I had was the availability of resources when doing research as this is a particularly niche issue but upon reflection, there were thorough resources on the internet and multiple research papers.
