Touch Rugby

04/12/18

About 4 weeks ago I sprained my ankle really bad from playing basketball with inappropriate shoes and I thought it would be another mild sprain that’ll take 3 days to heal, similar to the ones I often get. But it took a lot longer to heal than expected and I was not able to play touch rugby because of it, I have missed a couple rugby tournaments because of it and that honestly brought be down. I was looking forward to playing rugby for this school and with such amazing girls. I thought I would be able to resume playing after a few weeks but 4 weeks have passed and I could still barely walk which is rather disappointing. I have consulted with the doctor multiple times and he has recommended that I get my ankle surgically operated to reattach my ligaments back together, and even that will take some time to recover.

So because of this I would probably have to join another sport because rugby ends at season 2 and my ankle would probably still be recovering and by the time my ankle does heal touch rugby would have dispersed. I was thinking of joining muay thai or boxing, which I have done for a couple of years but have stopped, I thought it would be nice to get back into it, that’s of course if my ankle heals well by then. If it doesn’t I would need to go for a less intense sport such as yoga, which would make my mom proud because she has been trying to convince me to do yoga. So what did I get from this? A lot of pain, and wear basketball shoes for basketball. I also learned that not everything will go as you planned, but that is time for you to learn to adapt and learn to compromise because life is full of surprises and you should get the best of it.
