My First RDA Experience

Today was my first time participating in my service RDA (Riding For the Disabled). Everyone started a week prior, however, I couldn’t participate as I was unwell. I am so glad I get to parttake in this activity as I get to work with horses and help the disabled children. It was really

In The Heart Of Robin Hood Reflection 1

Near the beginning of the year, I was chosen to be part of the drama production, “In The Heart Of Robin Hood”, cast. This was a pretty big deal for me, even though I don’t have a speaking role. I’ve been auditioning for the High School productions for a couple of years, but unfortunately I haven’t been to lucky in the past.

I really enjoyed my first day of working on the production, though it was not what I expected. On the first day we did a read though of the play. I was not expecting this at all. I knew we had to read through the play beforehand, but doing a read through was a completely new experience for me. I really enjoyed it though as I want to gain experience of being in a production. I want to go into the acting industry.

Drama Rehearsal Reflection

December 2018 Magnolia Theatre at the Lincoln Center Fort Collins CO

I choose this photo as I was able to join the drama production “In The Heart Of Robing Hood” this year. I feel quite proud of myself for joining the production as I haven’t been successful in landing a role in the past. This just showed me that my perseverance and determination is paying off. I’m slowly improving my acting skills. Another reason why I’m proud of myself for doing this is because I have stage fright. Performing on stage is defiantly a challenge for me and is pushing me a little bit out of my comfort zone. A few of years ago, I wouldn’t have even consider auditioning for plays

CAS Reflection

What has been the biggest challenge within CAS so far? What might you do to improve this?

One of the biggest challenges I’m having so far with CAS is my time management. I have at least 1 CAS requirement everyday after school, except for Monday (including my tuition on Wednesdays). All these requirements end around 5:30, maybe even a little later. This leaves me with less time to do my HW. This also forces me to try and manage my time better, which I have trouble with. It hasn’t provided me with to much trouble yet, but as the year continues, my lac of time management will affect me as the HW and assessments pile up. Something I might do to improve this is to start the HW the day I get it if I have time. This way I won’t be as stressed when the deadline for the HW/assessment comes.

CAS Planning

What aspects of CAS are you looking forward to?

I am looking forward to the Creativity aspect of CAS. This is because I love to do things related to the arts, like music, pottery, drawing, painting, and the like. I have even been learning how to play the guitar, though I am thinking of learning how to play the acoustic instead of classical guitar this year. I find creating very enthralling as I don’t see it as work. It can help give my mind a break from all the school drama. I am also looking forward to the Activity aspect of CAS. I have been learning a type of martial arts called Kali since I was in grade 6. It is something I really enjoy and participate in every Saturday. I am going to try and attend twice a week this year. This is what I am going to do for my Activity.

How might you plan your year of CAS in order to maintain balance?

As I will have no time no time after school if I get into the HS Drama production, I will join a local or global service that runs during lunch. This way it doesn’t clash with my after school priorities, like my tutors (and hopefully the drama production). If if don’t get into the HS Drama production this year, I will be doing my creative part of CAS during term 3&4. I will have more time to join an after school creative activity then. As for the Activity part of CAS, I will continue to do the martial arts class I attend every Saturday.
