This week was my first session at my new service peace haven which is where we go to a care center and help older less able people exercise within the home.  This service takes place at a bedok day care center where they look after old people who need to be looked after.  In this service you are 1 on 1 with an elder individual who needs to be supported when they exercise.  Some challenges I have experienced in this service is communication as most of our clients in this service do not speak english therefore we have to communicate with hand signals or basic words which can make it very difficult at times to help them.  One skill this service will help with is open mindedness as you need to have an open approach to working with these clients and you need to be very patient at times in order to get work done.
