Having finally ended the Extended Essay, I can proudly say that I do not regret choosing my topic. My passion for folk music and fiddling has only been further fuelled by interest and understanding its history. Throughout my EE, I felt that I did really well regarding the historical context and the exploring the surface level understanding of folk music. Because of this, the theory that I have explained has been left wanting; a further consultation with my supervisor might have given me a better grasp on the theory I needed to explain my topic. However, I am still very satisfied with my chosen EE topic; being able to explain to depth the history of how Irish and Scottish folk music influenced Appalachia folk music.
