Physics Unit 2: Extension

Rube-Goldberg Machine:

Watch this video then write a post on the OLP explaining how machines like this obey the law of conservation of energy:

Rube Goldberg machines obey the law of conservation of energy because there are chain reactions of energy taking place. Energy is transferred (usually kinetic) or sometimes transformed to one system/form to another. Energy may be lost (such as due to friction or sound) but in some places, some objects may even gain energy. The energy in the whole system is overall constant.

Perpetual-motion Machine:

Research examples of perpetual motion machines: Write an OLP post explaining: what are they? Why is it not possible to actually build one?
Give an example of one and outline the energy losses taking place.

A machine that can do work/energy indefinitely without any external energy source. It isn’t possible because it doesn’t obey the law of conservation of energy.

P1 Forces and Motion Extension work: Falling through a black hole & Falling through the centre of the earth

Black Hole: Despite listening to my instructor to not go into a black hole, I decided to venture off into space in my SpaceX Dragon capsule using the BFR rocket. When I arrived at the nearest black hole in the centre of our galaxy travelling at the speed of life I learned that my family is dead back home. Furthermore, when I ventured into the black hole with my feet first, I felt like I was heavier on my feet than on my head. I felt like was stretching and becoming very thin. Yes, that is right, I became a spaghetti and soon exploded because of that extreme tension. Luckily this was just an experiment and what I mean is that we tested this on a parallel universe so I am still alive in our universe, or should I say multiverse.

Centre of the earth: On my next journey through the universe, I came across a planet that was a perfect sphere (which means I was in a different universe with different laws of physics) but had the exact same density as earth (5500kg/m^3) and had a hole through the centre of the eart. I started at the North pole and put on my gear for the super hot and super fast ride. This ride took me 37 minutes to complete and it was disastrous. Thank you for reading.
