This was a club that I decided to join in order to push myself out of my comfort zone. During my middle and high school years, I tended to be very science and maths focused, which resulted in me my participation in science clubs and mathematics clubs rather than creative clubs such as yearbook club. I figured that it would be a great opportunity for me to not only attempt something that I have never done before but also get to know the ‘behind the scene’ of the production of annual yearbooks, ranging from collecting photographs to designing the cover pages. In the beginning, I focused on getting to know other members and understanding what it is we do as a group and what is required from the members. I then decided to join the journalism sub-sector of the club. My group and I had to contact activities and service office and collect photos as well as interviews for the yearbook, and during this rather unfamiliar and challenging session, I learned how to approach others in a polite, professional manner through conversations and discussions with the head of activities office. Further, my setting meetings with the head of activities and service office, as well as emailing various department for lists of students, sports teams, and etc., I grew a sense of responsibility and dedication, further motivating myself to commit in this club.
