Initial Reflection – Service Executive Team and LEAP

In IGCSE, I was a part of a college service called “Humans of UWCEA”, where I had the lead roles as the Communications Officer and Logistics Officer. Although this was an exciting journey filled with challenges, I realized that I wanted to be a part of something bigger that will force me to become more resilient and build on my leadership abilities. Due to this service being on the same day as the Service Executive Team, I took the decision to change my service to expose myself to bigger and more rewarding challenges.

As I have joined the Service Executive Team with the role of the ‘College Service Media and Advocacy Officer’, I had a meeting on Saturday, the 31st of August, to get to know the team two weeks before the school service actually begins. My role in Grade 11 within this team will consist of working with the college services to develop and update their social media (hence the name) which will be consisting of the online portfolios. I will also manage the media section for the college service executive team, where I will update the school community on any recent events or work that has taken place within the different groups through online posts. However, these are not the only things I will be doing. As a part of my College Service Executive role, I am also a part of the group “LEAP” which is the head of sustainability in all of UWCSEA. This team works with finding new ways to make our school more “green”, finding new ways to expose students to working more with environmental issues that could potentially benefit our campus. Due to these two opportunities being at my feet, I will take as many steps as possible to learn more about a topic I do not have a lot of experience with. I look forward to the challenges ahead and working as a team to improve the service programs in our school and improving the overall output of the LEAP group. I will continue to document my journey each week through this CAS component and reflect upon my progress, as well as setting new goals that I will work on achieving.
