LO4: Culturama 2018 – Helping out with makeup Backstage

This year in Culturama, I did not participate as a dancing crew but I helped out with the makeup backstage. I have always loved makeup and I’ve always wanted to experience helping out a makeup crew backstage for performances. I think that this experience to me fits into learning outcome 4 (LO4): Commitment. I showed perseverance, resilience, and commitment throughout this experience because even though it was very crowded and busy backstage, I managed to keep my focus and not give up. I was doing makeup for dancing crews from many countries and because some people couldn’t do their own makeup, many people started coming over asking me to do their makeup. As it was very close to their performance time, I was very busy doing many people’s makeup one after another without resting. However, I find it a great experience because I was able to make it more efficient for the crew and make them look beautiful standing up on stage. I maintained my motivation in this activity through talking to the dancing crews and I find myself enjoying the process because they were very excited about the performance, and so as a backstage crew, I felt very excited for them. I think that they also helped me stay committed to the activity by complimenting my makeup skills and telling me how much they loved my makeup. I also helped them get on time for their performance and some groups even practiced in front of me to see if I have any feedbacks for them. I think that with my commitment of this activity, things were able to run smoothly because some people had difficulties with applying on makeup and adjusting their dress costume, they were also unable to ask their dance crews because they were all busy fixing themselves so I’m very glad, I could help them make their performances run more smoothly.
